### My VMUPro is frozen and is not responding to inputs. What can I do?

There are cases where the VMUPro may halt due to an internal error. In cases where the display becomes completely unresponsive, you can hard-reset the device by inserting a pin eject tool or similar **non-sharp **object into the pinhole next to the **power on **button on the side of the device. Once inserted, you will feel a "click" of a button, which will reboot your **VMUPro** device.

### My VMUPro is not charging in my Gamepad / My VMUPro stops charging in my Gamepad

The VMUPro has an intelligent battery management system that continuously monitors the state of the battery, and the charging current and voltage. When this is out of safe bounds, it will **terminate charging** to protect the battery and your Dreamcast.

Further to this, the VMUPro needs at **LEAST** 15 seconds before it starts charging in the gamepad, in order to take current and voltage measurements. If the first round of measurements is satisfactory, the battery will start charging. If not, it will retry 3 further times, each time taking a further 10 seconds.
If all attempts fail to take satisfactory measurements, charging will **NOT **initiate, but the Dreamcast should still be powering the VMUPro, therefore the battery should not be discharging.
This process can be reset by simply removing and re-inserting the VMUPro to your controller. However, we would advise you to investigate why this may be happening in the first place with your Dreamcast. In often cases, this can be caused by an aging power supply, insufficient or incorrect resettable controller fuse fitted to your Dreamcast, or a semi-blown controller fuse on your Dreamcast's controller board.

If you are having trouble getting the VMUPro to charge in the Dreamcast Gamepad, you can now change the default charging behaviour in the settings.

Go to **Settings > Power > Pad Charging **and change the default **limited **option to **unlimited. **This will allow the VMUPro to charge at a faster rate. This mode is more stable than the limited option and can charge better if the conditions allow it. However, please make sure you **limit the amount of peripherals **you have connected to your controller ports, as this mode will consume more power.

Finally, you can also opt to completely disable charging inside a controller by choosing the **off **option. This means that the VMUPro will still be powered by the controller when docked, but it will not charge its battery (neither will it drain it).

**WARNING: **Working with power supplies can be **deadly. **We strongly advise that you do not try to self-diagnose or service high voltage power supplies like the one fitted in your SEGA Dreamcast. Always use a qualified and competent technician who can service or replace power supplies.

### My VMUPro shows a red line over the battery and is not keepeing charge

This is normal and can happen when the battery gets over-discharged or if the VMUPro is left unused for a prolonged period of time.
The battery protection circuit cuts off supply until the battery is up to a sufficient charge again, but first needs to be reset in order to be able to charge the battery again. The process is simply to:
\- Plug in the VMUPro to power via a USB-C cable. It will turn on
\- Press "MODE" to access the menu
\- Press the right d-pad until "Power Off" is selected
\- Press "A" to power off the device. Leave the cable plugged in
\- Leave the VMUPro plugged in until it powers on again on its own
\- The battery symbol should now show a percentage and the battery charging.

If the above process fails to restart the VMUPro for a considerable amount of time, unplug the USB-C cable and follow this process to wake it up, then try the previous steps again:
\- Plug in the USB-C cable
\- After 5 seconds, press the "SLEEP" button firmly
\- Wait another 5 seconds
\- Press the "MODE" button
\- The VMUPro should wake up again
\- Follow the steps in the previous section to try resetting the battery again.
